Building Hope Together

It takes all of us to end homelessness, and you can play a crucial role in someone's journey to housing simply by showing up. There are so many ways to get involved. We're grateful you're here.

Ways You Can Volunteer

We work with individuals, neighborhood groups, faith-based organizations, corporate groups, schools, and families.

Serve a Meal

Food is more than nourishment—it creates connection. Bringing a meal to one of our interim housing communities not only fills plates, it helps rebuild lives.

Lead a Workshop

Use your experience and passion to help our program participants build self-sufficiency. Whether it's budgeting, resume writing, yoga, bible study, or gardening—use your experience and passion to build new pathways.

Sort Donations

Thanks to the generosity of the community, our Donation Center has donations that need sorting and organizing before going out to our program participants. If you love admin tasks, we could use your help!

Host a Donation Drive

From winter clothing drives to interview-ready clothes, we are always looking for groups to collect most-needed items to support people in our shelters, interim housing, and other programs.

Host a Celebration

Bring your favorite tradition and share it with program participants. Whether it's a holiday, a recipe, or just a really good Taco Tuesday—pick the occasion, and we'll help make it happen.

Greening and Cleaning

Grab some gloves and get to work. From planting herbs to pulling weeds to cleaning up the neighborhood, there's always something to do—and every improvement makes the entire community more connected.

What to Expect as a Volunteer

After you complete the short volunteer application and tell us what you're interested in, we'll match you with the right opportunities.

Age Requirement

You must be over 18 for most of our volunteer opportunities.

Group and Individual

We work with individuals, corporate groups, faith communities, friend groups, or families.

Flexible Scheduling

We'll work with you or your group to schedule a time that accommodates everyone.

What to Bring

Depending on the volunteer opportunity, we will work with you to bring supplies, or we will provide them.

Hear From Our Volunteers

Real stories from people making a real difference.

Working with HomeFirst is always a pleasure. It's clear that the staff deeply care about addressing homelessness in the community, and I'm super glad that HomeFirst works with us for these kit builds as it helps me and my colleagues give back to the community and contribute towards this effort. The HomeFirst team does a great job in letting us know what our efforts are going towards, which helps us know we're truly making an impact.

It was inspiring to see how quickly KLA employees came together during a lunchtime pop up volunteer event to build cold weather kits for our unhoused neighbors. The care and compassion behind every kit was clear, and the experience highlighted how bringing accessible service opportunities on campus strengthen our sense of community and purpose.
